The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. The Hertie School's Centre for Sustainability is looking for a
Student Assistant (gn)

part-time (10h/week). The successful candidate will work closely with the Centre Manager, supporting events, communications, and day-to-day administration of the Centre for Sustainability. The planned start date is 15 July 2023 (precise starting date is open to negotiation).Your tasks:
- Supporting external Centre communications, including content creation for social media and newsletter
- Contributing to Centre website by drafting and editing news items, summarizing research articles, and creating graphics
- Maintaining records for Centre reporting, contact databases, and publication catalogue
- Assisting with the organisation of Centre events (online and presence-based, public and internal/invite-only)
- Supporting community building initiatives and outreach activities of the Centre
- Assisting the planning and organisation of the ‘Strommarkttreffen’, including organizing in-person events and managing the mailing list and website (in German)
- Liaising with the student-led Sustainability Club for partnered events, etc.
- Other similiar tasks as needed
Your profile:
- Enrolled at a German university, preferably the Hertie School
- Completed undergraduate degree
- Fluent in English with excellent writing skills. German language skills are a highly preferred, as most organisation for Strommarkttreffen is conducted in German
- Familiar with MS Office, G Suite, online conferencing software (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams), and Canva; experience back-end website administration (Typo3, WordPress) is an asset
- Experience using social media for professional communication and marketing
- Good organisational skills, ability to work independently and communicate proactively
- Interest in the research topics of the Centre (climate, energy, sustainability)
- Initial work or internship experience is an asset
